LATEST BETTING.
(Electric Telegraph—Copyrio ht.) (Reuter's Agency.) (Received 1.45 a.m., Nov. 2nd.) Melbourne, Nov. 1. The weather is fine, and gives promise of its continuing so to-morrow. Much animation is being manifested m the betting market, the following being the latest quotations for the Melbourne Cup : —Trident, 9to 1; Isonomy, 7to 1; Meteor, 10 to 1 ; Little John, 12 to 1 ; Silvermiue, 12 to 1; Trenton, 14 to 1 ; Commotion, 20 to 1; Hexham, 20 to 1; Sheet Anchor, 25 to 1. The following horaes have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup: — Affluence and Salvo. (Special to the Press Association.) (Ksoaived 1.15 a.m., Nov. 2nd.) Melbourne, Nov. 1. The settling over the V.R.C. Derby has been satisfactory. To-day Meteor was backed to win several thousands at 100 to 7. There was a large attendance at Tattersall's to-night. 5 to 1 was offered against Trident, and 7 to 1 against Isonomy. Other quotations are the same as Saturday night. (Roceivod 1.45 a.m., Nov. 2nd.) 10.30 p.m. Isonomy has come up with a rush, and has been backed for large amountf at C to 1. Meteor and Ben Bolt, 100 to 12 (off) ; Little John, 100 to 10 (tk); Trenton", 100 to 7 (tk) ; Arsenal, Sheet Anchor, Lord William, Crossfire, and Hexham are weaker. The outsiders backed are Kitawa, Britisher, Jack Roach, and Bohemian.
