» The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tiinnru School Committee took place m tho Board Keiom at Ihc Main School last night. It was moved by Mr Sims, sec-onded by Mr Rowley, and carried — "'lhat this committee consider it would be nelverse to tho best interests (if tlio pupil teachers employe! at tlie Sielc School, to rnnko that school" independent of tin 1 Main .School, as recommended by tlio Inspector m his communication to the board; it would also deprivo I hem of tlie very able anel cflieient instruction received under Messrs Wood, Wako, and Mrs Grnhame, m the prosicution of their studies m tho different grades of a pupil teacher's course, instead of which they would only reccivo such instruction, ns the head mistress appointed to tho Side dehool would be able to give. At tho same time the committee have no objection to the board appointing a certificated teacher." Applications for tho position of enrctakerto tho Side School were received from several persons. After consideration Mrs H. Dineen received tlie appointment. Moved by Mr Sim a , seconded by Mr Mellroy — " That the Board of Education be respectfully asked to take tho necessary stops towards erecting a dwelling house, for tho caretaker or mistress of tho Side School, tho Committee being of opinion that a considerable item of expenditure m the shape of broken windows, fences, etc., would bo caved by having some person living on the promises, and the lodging money allowed tho mistress would pay tho interest on the cost of tho dwelling house." AccorNTS. Accounts to the amount of £20 5s were passed for payment. Visitors. Moved by Mr Mills, seconded by Mr Ingrain, nnd carried- "That Messrs Mellroy and Sims be appointed Visitors to tho Main School, nnd Messrs Hill and Milts to tho Side School."
