MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. Consols remain at 100y. . New Zealand securities are at yesterday's quotations. Adelaide wheat ex store, is quoted at 355, and New Zealand, 28s to 335. Adelaide flour, 245. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom, according to today's returns, is 1,650,000 quarters, 20,000 less than last week. Australian tallow remains at the following quotations : — Average quality beef, 235 ; mutton, 25s 6d. The total stock of tallow m London to-day is 15,500 casks. New Zealand frozen mutton, prime quality, is selling at from 4d to 4id. The tbird series of wool auctions closed to-day, the tone of the market being weak. During tbe series 260,000 bales were disposed of, 5000 bales being beld over. The fourth series open on the 23rd November. (Recoivod 3.15 p.m., Oot. 2nd.) IMPERIAL INSTITUTE. Sir P. Cunliffe Owen, m reply to an inquiry by Sir Graham Berry, has stated that the colonies are not required to make any definite contribution to the proposed Imperial Institute, bub may subscribe whatever sums they please.
