CHARGE OF FRAUD DISMISSED.
« (By Telegraph.) Wellington, Oct. 2. William rente was charged nt the Resident Magistrate's Court with fraudulently converting to his own uso a promissory note. For tho defenco it was shown thnt the note was unstamped and therefore not a valuable security, and as a matter of law accused was not liable, and furthor, that tliere wns no evidence of conversion. The Magistrate m dismissing tho case remarked that tho evidence did not leave a shadow of disgrnco on the character of the accused.
