(Br Teleqbaph.) Auckland, Sept. 17. James Ray has been committed for trial for alleged criminal libel on John Green, solicitor. A dispute arose out of money transactions. The City Council, through the representations of tho iron workers, have decided to invite tenders locally for the new plant for the waterworks, instead of importing it. On the inaugural trip of the Oreti to Hokianga, as subsidised by the Government, she took sixty passengers for the Government special settlements, to go on the land. For weeks past somo person or persons at Te Aro and of the city have been playing " tho ghost " business, and numbers of nervous persons have received great frights.
