SYDNEY MARKETS.

Tho New Zoaland Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company, Limited, report on the Sydney markets, under date Sydney, Angust 26th, as follows : — BUTTER. (Dnty Id per lb).—Prime qualities are selling well at up to Is Cd, but we cannot report any alteration m tho demand for pastry qualities, which may bo quoted nominally at 5d to 7d. . CHEESE. (Duty 2d per lb).—We have cleared out our late consignments of prime loaf size at 9}d, whioh is a top qnotation. Large sizes aro dull, and havo only a small sale at 6d to 8d acoording to quality. MAIZE (Free).—Continues very weak, and with largo and regular supplies coming forward we do not think values will harden for somo time. Market dull at 3s to 3s 2d. WHEAT. (Free).—Parcels of Calcutta havo been quitted at abont 4s, and as some shipments of Californian, originally intonded for Victoria, are likely to be placed on this market, wo do not look for any improvement m tho demand for New Zealand grain, for which, at timo of writing, there is but small enquiry. Oar latest sales of New Zealand Tusoan have been on the basis of 4s 6d ex wharf. BARLEY. (Free).—Nominal quotation, 2s 7d to 2a 9d. OATS. (Free).—Market keeps fairly firm for good, bright, stout, heavy feed at 2s 6d to 23 Bd. Inferior descriptions are difficult to place at 2a 2d to 2s 4d. Seed Tartarians without enquiry at 2s 7d to 2s 9d. POTATOES. (Free)—Markot dull, and inclined to fnrther weaken as the season is now drawiDjr to a close, and buyers are consequently not anxious to stock up. We quote -.—Circular heads (new stocks), £i 5s to .£4 7s Gd; old stocks, .£3 15s. Now Zealand blue Dorwent3 are offered at £3 5a to £3 lOd, without securing buyers. FLOTJB. (Free).—We have no alteration to report, tho market continuing sluggish m tho extreme. NEW ZEALAND MEATS. (Duty Id per \V\.—Tierce beef has boon m some demand for export, but the town enquiry for tinned meats continues slack.
