ANXIOUS INQUIRIES.
(By Telegraph.) Wellington, Sept. 1. Inquiries are being mado after a tradesmnn who held a prominent position m a local friendly society. It is supposed he has gone to Kimberloy, ai he iB said to have been si>en partly disguised on the barquentine May, which sailed on Sunday. A. private meeting of the officers of the society to which he belonged was held last night to inquire into matters connected with his disappearance. No information, has, however, yet been laid with the police.
