ODDFELLOWSHIP AT FAIRLIE CREEK.

c The installation of officers of tho Gladstone Lodge, 1.0.0. F., Fairlie Creek, which wat followed by a supper and ball, took place last Friday evening m the school-room, Fairlie Creek, and was m every way a marked suo cess. The installation, which was an open one, commenced at 8 o'clock, and a large number of tho public availed themselves ol tho opportunity of witnessing tho ceremony Bro 0. Pye acted as Grand Marshall, Bro M McLeod as Conductor, and Bro F. R. Gilling' ham as Grand Secretary. They duly m stalled the following officers : — Bro J. 8 Rowe, N.G. ; Bro J. Moir, V.G. ; Bro 8 Halelc, Secretary ; Bro J. Binney, Treasurer : Bro J. Riddle. I.Gr. s Bro W. Hughes Warden ; Bro C. Pye. Conductor ; Bro J. Binney and J. Battison, R. and L.5.8. ; Brc J. Battison and 0. Pye R. and L.S. to N.G. i Bros McLeod and D. McKay, junr., R. and L.B. to V.G. 5 Bros J. Wilson and F. R Gillingham, Auditors. The secretary (Bro S, Salok) then read the balance-sheet for the past term showing the receipt* for the halfyear to be £77' 6s sd, and a b-danco from last half-year of £132 2s 9d, making a total oi £209 9s 2d. The expenditure was £58 3< lOd, leaving a credit balance of £157 6s 4d, an increase of £25 over last balance. The report of the auditors was then read by Bro F. R Gillingham. After the ceremony was concluded the G'and Marshall Bro 0. Pye addressed those present. He said that Oddfellows met together for mutual counsel amongst themselves, for the relief of the distressed, and for the elevation of human character. He used those words because tho whole teachines of Oddfellowship were for that end. They were their guide and motto. Their rituals and workings were for the eako of elevating the character of brothers, morally, socially, and fraternally. They had not aimed that night at showing tbem any brilliant ceremony, but he was sure they would accept their big will for their little deeds. It was just three years to-night since the lodge was opened, and the good balance shown by the balanco sheet left tbem nothing to regret. He was glad to see. bo large an attendance of the public present, and on behalf of the lodge thanked them for being present. An adjournment was made to the supper room where Bro Jones bad m his usual first-olass style prepared an excellent repast.
