ATTEMPTED ARSON.
(By Telegraph.) Whxtjnoton, July 20. An attempt was mado last night to fire a honse occupied by W. J. Livingston m Fabner street. A quantity of greasy rags were placed under the joists of the honse. Fortunately the fire was discovered m the incipient stage and extinguished. The police have a theory as to the reason why the place was set on fire, but for obvious reasons refuse to make it public. At present the house is owned by Mr Fitchctt, and it is said he is uninsured. The furniture is insured.
