GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

Tho regular monthly meeting of the Geraldino Town Board was held at the oflico of tho Board on Tuesday evening. Present — Messrs R. H. Pcarpoint (chairman), W. S. Maßlin, J. Huffoy, Thomas Farrell, Robert Taylor and N. Dunlop. MINUTES. The minutes of an ordinary and two special meetings were road and confirmed. COUnESrONDKKGE. lettors were- read as follows : — From tho Hon. W. Rolleston, M.H.R., promising to confer with the Bnartl's chairman on tho subject of tho adjustment of thoj Coßt of administration of the Licensing Act. From the Treasury, coTering cheque for 15s being fees, fmee and uonaUios collected during February last m tho B. M. Court, Geraldine. From Mr W. Buckley, asking that a waterway Bhould be cleared. From tho Town Ranger! enclosing list of cattle found straying since last meeting. The Kanger was instructed to sue for such fees thereon as had not been paid. THE UNEMPLOYED. A deputation of tho unemployed waited upon tho Board to ask that work might bo found for thorn during the winter. After discussion it was resolved that a slip of asphalt bo laid down, four feet m width, from Mr A, Macdonald's to tho Pleasant Valley Road, and that the necessary korbing bo done. Also that such work and the work of drying the shingle, bo left with the Works Committee, m order that thoy might give work to the unemployed. It was further | resolved that the engaging of surface men bo also left with the Works Committee,

After detailing the progress of survey works m accordance with suggestions m tho report, it was resolved that the overseer be instructed to procuro the wire necessary for protecting some 200 willows just planted m tho river bed near the cemetery. Mr C. E. Sherratt, clerk and accessor, was appointed rate collector. The report further stated thattherate roll had been advertised, but no objections had been made to it. The proposed estimate of expenditure had been made nnd corrected. Tho ratepayers' roll hnd been prepared during the month. Tho receipts for tho month. Lad been £29 6s 4d. Tho report of tho Inspector of Nuisances was then presented, the board resolving itself, into ft local Board of Hoalth to consider it. The report, after dealing with soToral trifliDg nuisances, concluded by saying that the district was m a very fair Banitary condition. TABIOUB. - Tho Works Committee, with the overseer, wore instructed to attend to the water table, near Ileney's and the Bides of the roads. The overseer to write to Timaru and Ashburton. gas works, asking quotations for pitch and coment. ACCOUNTS. '. Accounts amounting to £46 0s 2d were passed for payment, and the meeting ad? •journed.
