The seat -was rendered vacant by* the resignation of Mr A. J. H. Bowor, and on tho nominal lion 'day Messrs J. Crawford and D. Owers were.' duly proposed and .seconded. Very little interest was taken m the. election, only 54 voters 'out of a total of 115 m tho ward faking advantage of .their privileges. The. polling booth was tho. Wesleyau schoolhouso, Bank street, and the hours of polling from 9 a.m. to 6 "p.m. At a few minutes pnstsix o'clock the returning officer announced tho result of the poll as follows : — • Candidate. Voteß polled. , J. Crawford .-, 68 . D. Owers ... 26 The returning officer declared Mr Crawford duly elected, and the proceedings then terminated. ' . • : '
