He stated that tho Islands nro well watched by tho French war vessels, so as to prevent nny escapes, but whero any do take place, the escapees have been recaptured and sent back again. With this object a French detective is resident m Australia. Viscount do Jouffrcy considers that a deal of politicul agitation m Australia, against the recidifisto question has had a political motive.
