(By Telegraph.) Auckland, March 23. Auckland peopio applying for berths on the Alameda, due from ijvdney on Tuesday, have been informed that she is already full up. Berths by tho Mariposa, to arrive five weeks hence, are also fully engaged. It is proposed to construct extra accommodation on the Alameda during her stay m port hero. A young lady named Veaey is missing, and the police are searching. Her sister was found drowned recently at Motuihi, sineo which the one now missing is said to hare been depressed m mind. Intelligence from Samoa, via, Fiji, states that tho action of the captain of H.M. Opal m running Malietoa's llag to the main and saluting it with 21 guns, still constitutes a ground for animated discussion. The missing young woman Yesey was found drowned m Cone's creek this evening. New Plymouth, March 23. Colonel Whitmoro is holding an inspection of the Volunteer corps m this district, including the Inglewood and Hawora men, who arrived this morning by train. Tho reviow iB now going oa. On examination of tho four cases of salmon ova, Canterbury's consignment of tho lonic's ehipment, it was found that a large number ■were dead, but about half tho ova wore good, and this was considered a very satisfactory reßult. In tho cbbo of tho trout ova all the eggs wero dead, it is supposed from bciDg frozen during the passage out. Duuedin, March 23. To-day being Anniversary Day was observed as a general holiday, and sports, excursions, and races were well patronised. The unemployed have decided to accept the 4s per day offored, several City Councillors having promised to endeavour to have another 6d per day added. Ono of tho unemployed summoned John Barnes, Mayor of Dunedin, for using abusivo language by calling him a loafer. The Bench dismissed the caso.
