WAIMATE RACES.

Tho autumn meeting of tho Wuimato Baeing Club, held yesterday, was hardly as satisfactory m its pecuniary results as well wishers to the Club could havo desired. A continuous drizzling ruin fell during tho previous night, and with briot intermissions kept on falling throughout tho day, thus rendering the course very heavy. Unfortunately tho Waimato racecourse lies rather low, and further docs not boast tho luxury of a stand, grand or otherwise, and tho sporting public who braced tho discomforts of tho weather experienced anything but a pleasant time physically. The special trains from Noi-th and South each brought up a small contingent of enthusiastic sporting men, and the Waihao Kailway also contributed a email quota of back-country folk. The day m town was kept gouorally as a holiday, tho Banks and many of tho offices closing for tho day, and tho others giving their employes a half-holiday. Tho state of the course certainly preverited anything very extraordinary m tho way of time being made, but general satisfaction was expressed with tho sport under tlio many adverso circumstances.
