A motion to enforce their suspension for one sitting only m case of disregard of tbe Speaker's ruling was brought forward, but negatived by a majority of thirty-six. Mr Henry Labouehere, Member for Northampton, brought forward a motion having for its object the abolition of hereditary peerages m the House of Lords, Mr Gladstone, speaking on the subject, stated Her Majesty's Government recognised tho necessity for reforms m the Upper House.
