(By Teleorai-h.) Auckland, Jan. 7. At tho Supreme Court this morning John Considine and Jeremiah Driscoll were sentenced to 12 months' hard labor each for assault with intent to rob. Chbistghubch. J»n. 7. The oriminal sittings of the Supremo Court closed this afternoon with the conviction of William Harrison, accused of arson, who was i aentoncod to three years penal eemtuda.

DONEDIK, Jan. 7. The taking of evidence in the charge of murder of her mother at Mouth Dunedin. against Margaret Brown, was not concluded when the Court rose to-day. One witness, the first woman who entered the house, gave evidence that she heard Mrs Brown telling the police sergeant that the door wa» locked. The rest of the evidence was much the same as given previously. Professor Black said that the tests he applied to the staina on the brush found led him to form a atrong opinion that they were thoße of blood, but he would not swear to it. Dr Hocken stated that the severe beating as evidenced by the >calp being black and bruised waa sufficient to cause death .•without fracture of the skull. In reply to His Honor he said that if the ring on deceased's hand had been struck by the brush bo severely as to bend it, ho would expect to see a small dent on the brush. There were two small dents, but they might be anything. Boaking the brush in water would not remove the dents.
