The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), report under date Adelaide, Oot. Bth, as follows : — WOOL. Tho opening sale of the season was held on Tuesday, the 6th mat., whon some 2000 bales were submitted to auotion, and to-day a farther 1500 bales were offored. The attendance at these sales was large, consisting 1 of buyers representing English, American and Continental houses, m addition to the usual number of purchasers for scouring requirements and local speculators. The biddings were brisk, and competition for some lots was keen, but it was soon apparent that growers would have to submit to very much lower values than those obtained last season. Tho drop was most marked m the lower qualities of wool coming from the northern dietriota, and for this class of wool owners had to aeoopt lid to 2Jd per lb. nnder last year's rates. Good stapled light greasy merino is m good demand for America, and is worth 8d to 9d per lb. Red Northern Merino sells at from 4Jd to sid per lb. ; lambs, 3d to 4d per lb. ; pieces, 2d to 4d per lb. ; looks, Jd to Id per )b. Scoured wools are m somewhat poor demand, beat combing merino being worth Is 2d to Is 3id per lb. ; medium combing merino, lOd to 12d per lb. ; scoured piecos, 8d to 9d per lb. ; scoured locks, 4d to Gd per lb. WHEAT. The market has been very depressed, or rather, we should Ray, wanting m animation. Some parcels of wheat have been sold at Is $d per bushel mill-door Port Adelaide, but holders generally are not disposed to accept this figure, and should any ontside demand spring up we might see higher rates. We quote shipping parcels 4e per bushel (bnyers) to 4s 2d (sellers) at Port Adolaide. FLOUR. We have again to report a quiet market. Patent roller flour is m some demand at £9 7s Gd to £9 10s, and stone flour, town brands, sells very slowly at £8 15j, country do .£8 per ton, all f.o.b. Port Adelaide. BEAN. The market is firm and atooks light : prices, Is lid to Is 2Jd per bushel. Pollard is quoted Is id to Is 1 jd per bushel. OATK (Duty 3d) — In consequence of the absence of any fresh importations stooks have decreased, but buyers aro not disposed to operate pending further shipments now on the water. We quote average feed oats 2s 8d to 2s 9d per bushel for trade parcels. BARLEY (Duty 9d)— Malting ia not asked for. We have sold feed at 33 per bushel.
