The following ia the Christchnroh Corn Exchange report for the week ended Friday the 23rd inst. : — The past hag been an unovontfnl woek m the grain and produce trade. The outeide markets (at Homo and Australia) have been unsteady, which has greatly influenced local h peculation. Prime milling hard wheats are firm, owing to the aupply being bare, but second quality is offenDg freely at last quotations. Chick wheat is scarce and prices firm. Oats are drooping, the demand having fallen off as spring advances. Malting barley is unsaleable, and for feed lines nnremunerotive prices have to be accepted The season may be said to be fairly over for grasa ■eedi if we accept bright heavy oocksfoot fit to ahip to the Home market. Potatoes aro •gam on the move, the Sydney market is reported as firm, so we may yet hope to quit the whole of our season's growth at good figures. The market for dairy produce v doll, with little offering. The quotations for the woek are as follows:— Wheat— Prime milling (hard aorta), 3a 3d to 8s 4d ; Tuscan, 3» Id to 3s 2d ; second quality, 2s 3d to 2s lid ; ohiok wheat, 2s 2d to 2a 4d. Oate— Bright heavy feed, Is lid to 2s j loss and dtnootorod. Is 7d to la Od. Barley— Malting, 3b to 3a 3d ; feed, Is 9d Byegraea— Macbine-droMod, is 6d.
Cocksfoot— Bright heavy and olenn, 4d to 4}a ; discolored, 2}d toSJd. Beans-2»6dto2s7d. Peas— Seed, 3s 6d to 4s 6d ; feed, 2s 9d to 3s. Potatoes— Derwents (sacks included), 52s 6d. Dairy Produce- Prime butter m tubs, 7d to 8d; second quality, 4d to 6d: oheese, small loaf shape. 6Jd: medium, sid; Urge, 4dto4M. ' The above quotations those paid to farmers, and f.o.b. Lyttelton.
