AUCTIONEER'S REPORT.

Mr E. R. Guinness (for tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited), reports for the week ended Friday, September 18th, as follows :— Cattle. — The supply of prime beef is getting 1 scarce m thia district, the bulk of the fat cattle yarded are very little better than good stores. At Studholme Junction monthly sajtc. we sold on account of Mr H. Stndholmo 21 head, viz. : 12 bullocks at .£8 2s 6d, 6, do at 6doat £7 15s. Privately we have placed 23 head heifers at a very satisfactory price, and quote primo qnality beef at 235, medinm 20s per lOOlbs. Btores— No business of any importance has taken place. The demand is improving', and we expect m a short time to see prioes considerably higher. Good two and three year old ballooks are saleable at yalnea m proportion to the market rates of leef.
