Hart, Mills. Hirst, McLean, Canary, West. Mason, Costany, Crowe, Holder, Joynt, Thomas, Gapes and Miles. Pout Chalmers, Sept. 10. The s.s. Tougariro arrived at 10.45 p.m. yesterday, after a passage of 45 days. Her actual steaming- time was 42 days -4 hours 3 minntes. She left Plymouth at 2.55 p.m. on August Ist, with 332 passengers anil 251 bags mails. Arrived at Teneriffo at 2 a.m. on the 6th, and left at 11.40 a.m. the same day. At 6.30 p.m. on the 7th it was discovered that the main shaft INO. 4 bearing) was badly broken. They stopped the engines and set canvas, and after a delay of ten hours one of Thomson's patent conplings was fitted, and Bhs wiM again put under steam at threequarter' speed, gradually increasing to full speed, the coupling working admirably. She reached Capetown at 4.40 a.m. on August 22nd, and took on board four bags of mails &ud thrcG passengers, leaving again nfc •i.ii-l p.m. on the 23rd. She experienced fresh to moderate westerly winds, and passed Cape Leuwin at 4 a.m. on the Bth in3t.,"the Snares at 4 a.m. on the loth, Nuggets at 6.27 p.m., and anchored at the Heads at 10.45 p.m. She brings 650 tons of cargo for Dunedin, 1150 for Lyttelton, 73S for Wellington and 657 for Auckland. There wero no births or deaths. . Of the passengers 150 are nominated immi- j grunts, principally for Northern ports. She ' crossed the bar at 0.30 a.m., drawing 21 feet 6 inches aft and IS feet 0 inches forward at three-quarter flood.
