Waihora m the forehold among a, quantity of flax and tow shipped at Wellington. It was discovered by Mr Baird, tha Chief Engineer. Fortunately steam was on the donkey engine and the officers, with the ship's hose, aided by the Fire Brigade, suppressed the fire after it had been burning an nonr. No damage was done to the passengers' luggage, the mails, or the hull. The cause of the fire is unknown. An average will be struck for tho damage.
