TIMABU HIGH BOHOOL V. WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL. On Saturday tho return inntch between tho above clubs was played at Woollcombo's Gully. From a spectator's point of view this was rather an improvement, as it gave rise to some amusing episodes, Tho Waitnki team was enptainod by H. Driver whilo Cottor captained the local team. Wilson, a Waitaki youth of over twclvo Btone, showed up m tho first scrimmage, and was quito a host m himsolf. Reynolds, for Waitaki, essayed to make a run but was smartly collared. Mclntosh and Colter gained some ground for Timuru by short but effective runs, whilo Reynolds found a cool rosting place m one of tho largest pools. Cotter showod up well with a good dribblo. Once Timaru was forced down, but until time was called no further score was made, and the game thus resulted m a win for Timaru by 2. points to nil. For the winners Cotter, Bailey, Stubbß, and FuEsel played well, while for Waitaki Reynolds, Driver, Wilson, and Gifford did all they could to avert defeat. The Tirnani team was much weakened by the absence of the brothers Foßter, who left for Edinburgh University last Thursday. At the conclusion of the match the teams adjourned to the Timaru High School, where an excellent lunch had been laid out by a number of the young ladies attending the school. About 70 sat down, and did full justice to the good things provided. Hearty thanks were passed to the ladies, and the Waitaki team returned home much pleased with the reception they had received.
