Timaru Herald Office, Saturday Evening. AUCTIONEERS 1 REPORT. Messrs Macloaa and Stewart report for the past week as follow : — Horses — An entry of 65 broken and unbroken horses was to-day received at their yards for sale, comprising heavy and medium draughts, hacks and light harness horses. A specially good lino of unbroken three-year-old colts and fillies, tho property of Mr Wm. Pringlo, wore yarded ; also several other good youngsters. They have to report having sold 24 head, at from .£ls to .£22 10s for good draughts. For light and inferior horses the demand is very dnll, and they are difficult to sell at any price, a number of this class selling te-day at extremely low prices, viz., from £3 to £8. Sheop — They have had no auction sales of sheep during the week. There has been a slight enquiry for good breeding owes, but buyers are very careful m making their purchases, m the expectation of prices becoming easier as feed becomes more scarce. They placed privately a nice line of 500 three-quarter-bred ewes at a satisfactory price. Fat sheep — These are plentiful, and prices m consequence easy, lid to l^d being about market values. Cattle — Good steers are enquired for, and are saleable at from -£3 10s to .£l. Other cattle are m dull demand, and they have no transactions of importance to report. Fat cattle are cheap, about 15s per 1001 b. Skins— They held their usual fortnightly sale last Wednesday, and cleared out their entry at the following prices : — Butchers' merinoa and half-breds, Is 3d to Is 9d ; farmers' mixed lots, Is 4d to 2s ; hides, from 3d to 3fd per lb.
