Deliveries of grain during the past week have been pretty numerous, both by road and rai], consisting- chiefly of wheat for storage account, or oats for coastwise shipment. Millers have been purchasing sparingly of top quality only. Merchants show no disposition to lay m stocks, especially of oats, the low price of maize m Australia effectually closing their best market for horse feed. Buyers of wheat for speculative purposes have as yet made no sign. Quotations are — Prime milling wheat, tuscan or velvet, 2a 8d ; red chaff, 23 6d to 2s 7d ; prime milling oata, Is 5d to Is 6d ; short feed, Is 5d ; long, Is 3d ; barley, malting, 3s 6d. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association report as follows : — Grain has been coming to hand freely during the past fortnight, and for the most part is m good condition. Wheat, — The reports from the London market continue of an unsatisfactory nature, and merchants as a rale show no disposition to operate at owners ideas of value. They have placed a parcel of prime velvet at 2s BJd on trucks, Timaru, and this may be taken as the preaont top value. For prime milling red chaff they quote 2s 6d, and for Tuscan, 2s 7d to 2a 8d on trnoks, Timaru. Oats — Are slow m coming forward, and the values quoted m their last report have been sustained. Parcels for shipment have been enquired for at prioes ranging from Is 4d to la 6dfor long feed, and 13 5^3 to Is 7Jd for short feed and milling, several lots having been placed during the last few days at these quotations. Barley. — No transactions can be reported. They quote for prime malting up to 3s to 3s 6d on trucks. Ryegrass.— Good machine drossed has been placed at 8s 6d on truoks.
