THE SOUDAN CAMPAIGN.
(PerElectrio Telegraph. — Cop yright. ) (Rettter's Agency.) [Received noon, April Ist.] Cairo, March 30. News from the Soudan states that the rebellion against the Mahdi's pretensions ia gaining ground rapidly, and the malcontents now hold El Obeid against him. Souakim, March 31. The Daily Neivs war correspondent m Egypt states that Osman Digna has sent a flag of truce to Sir Gerald Graham asking for conditions of peace. (Received 2.45 p.m. April Ist.) (Evening). Spies who come m from Hascheen and Tamai report that the enemy have evacnated the villages m the neighborhood, and a detachment of cavalry will consequently reconnoitre m the direction of Tamai to-morrow. A reconnaissance has been made to-day as far as Hascheen, and a few rebels were eucountered, but they retired on the approach, of the British troops. The construction of a railway from this place to Handoub is being vigorously proceeded with. The New South Wales infantry were reviewed this afternoon by General Graham. The colonials wore a neiv Kaikee uniform, and presented a smart appearance. In consequence of the disappearance of the rebels from the neighborhood, it has been proposed that the general advance from this place to Tamai be postponed for a day or two.
