The population of this city is considerably excited over the present crisis m political ■ affairs. The general tone of public opinion is m favor of a yigorons prosecution of military operations m Tonquin. President Grevy has summoned M. de Freyeiuet, and entrusted him with the task of forming a new ministry. London, March 30. The mails ex Orient R. M.S. Lig'uria from Melbourne (Feb. 20th), via Naples, were delivered here to-day. The P. and O. R.M.S. Indus arrived at Plymouth yesterday afternoon. ' There was ' a fair demand at to-day's wool auction. The catalogue comoriaed 8300 bales. (SPEOIAIi TO THE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) (Received 1 a.m., April 1st;) - London, March 31. The French are very much incensed at the action taken by M. Ferry m regard to affairs m Tonquin. ' In- the Chamber of Deputies M. Clemenceau. characterised M. Ferry's action as treasonable, and a motion to that effect was tabled, but it was rejected. - The war grant ig. collapsing. The French loss m Tonquin is estimated at 1500. Large crowds of Chinese are menacing the position, held by the French.
