MR ROLLESTON AT HILTON.

The Hon. Mr Rolleston addressed the electors of the Kakahu district at Hilton on Saturday evening. There was a fair attendance. He was listened to patiently throughout. At the conclusion of his speech, Mr John Hay said he had great pleasure m proposing a vote of thanks and confidence m Mr Rolleston. Mr Cox was a gentleman whom he had known for many yefirs and greatly respected, but it was their duty to vote for the man who would best represent their interests. Mr R. Skinner seconded Mr Hay's motion. Mr Guenn proposod as an amendment — "That this meeting, whilo thanking Mr Rolleston for his address, has no confidence m him." The amendment was seconded by Mr O. G-. Bradley. On being put to the meeting, the Chairman declared that 9 hands were held up for the amendment and 12 for the resolution, and ho therefore declared the resolution carried. A vote of thanks to the Chairman was proposed by Mr Rolleston, and carried. In acknowledging the vote of thanks, Mr Rooke said he had known Mr Rolleaton for very many years, and he hoped to see him at the head of the poll.
