It has transpired that the Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Aiisooiution wrote to the Victorian Navigation Board, calling attention to the race which is alleged to have taken placo m Port Philip between the steamships Adelaide and Wairarapa. The Board replied, stating that it had decided to take steps to hold an enquiry into the collision which occurred between the two vessels. The reply, however, also stated that the Board has no power to prevent racing.
