[Per Press Association.] Auckland, Oct. 13. In the case of assault on Mr Wickham, proprietor of the Free Lance, by Dr Harrison, Mrs Dr Potts' associate, Harrison was fined 10s. An accident occurred at the brick and timber Company's mill at Taylorvillo, yesterday afternoon, by which Mr Barton, manager, was drawn by a belt over the drum to which he was doing something. He was thrown against the roof and then fell heavily on the ground, receiving a long gash on the side of his head and having one arm broken. He has also lost a piece of his skull, but it is not said whether his brain is injured. A new shaft which is being sunk m tho Wallsend mine has been flooded out. The shaft was down 142 feet, when a seam of water was struck. There is now 80 feet of water m it. It is idle now, m order to see if the old shaft, m which pumps arc, will drain it. Oct. 14. The Colonial Secretary received a deputation from tho Hospital Board on Saturday. A good deal of destruction has been wrought amongst lambs by tho severe weather up country. The Koitangata Coal Company has de> clared a dividend and bonus amounting to 20 per cent. The output of coal is now over 40,000 toni yearly, having doubled during the last four years.
