The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was hold at the Road Board Office, Burkes Pasi, on Monday, October Ist. MEMBERS PBBBKNT. Menra McGregor (Chairman), R. Rutherford, Milne, J. S. Rutherford, and Chapman, MINCTE3. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. BNOISBKK'a BBFOBT. The Engineer's ropart on the progress of tho rarioui worke, etc., was road and considered. TBNDEBS. Tenders for tho conduction of a track from Glentumier towards Birch Uill wore recoived from Messrs T. Corkery, M. Corkery, M. Lynch, T. Bugrue, and M. Doherly, at certain prioes per cubic yard, to expend the ! government vote of £100 on this work. After consideration, tho Bqard acoopted that of M. Gorkery, OOHBESEONDBKOK. Tho following correspondence win rend : — From the Qeraldino County Council, asking that tbe Board's JSngineor might bs permitted to report on tho Hangituta bridge. TUo Engineer stated hn had mads a joint report with Mr Mensem on the work, by permission of the Chairman. From the Geraldine County Council oon- | corning the Bale of land from road stoppage m the Opawa Valloy, stating that the Chairman of the Council would not sign the order for its sale until evidence was produced that tho stoppage of tho road had boon duly advertised. The Clerk having stated that the whole of the requirements of tho Public Works Act 18S2 relating to tho stoppage of road* bad been complied with, including the advertisement of the gtoppago notice, it was resolved that tbo Geraldine County Council abould be informed of this fact, and referred to the newspapers of the date m wbicb the]advorti«ement appeared for conclusive evidonco of tbe advertisement. From the Treasury, stating that the cum of £21 it 4d was due to the Mount Cook dietiict, for the construction of road works on

the Government resorve at Fairlie Croelt, bu that the Government would not pay over the money until the Waste Lands Board crrtifiec their approval of iho works on which tin money would be expended. Rpsolred— " That the Waste lands Offioe, Ohrislchurch, be a§ked for a certificate m terms of the letter from the Treasury." From Mr John Stevenson, applying foi road repairs between Balmoral and Braemar. Resolved — " That the track be widened 1C feet by tho surfacemen." From Mr John Whittaker, applying for leave to lako gravel from the Board's reierve at Fsirlie Crrek on certain terms. Resolved — " That permission be granted to Mr Whittaker to take gravel therefrom, on the conditions stated m bis letter." From the Mount Peel Boad Board, encloi. ing cheque for half the cost of the Opihi footbridge extension, and staling they would share tho cost of painting it with the Mount Cook Board. From Mr E. Dark, applying for repairs to be executed on the road between Fukaki and GHentsnnor. Resolved—" That tho work be done by the contractor for tbo Mount Cook traok." From the Bank of New Zealand, with reference to the disposal of a fixed deposit at tho credit of the cemeteries account. Resolved— " That £100 be transferred to the district fund account, and tho balance, £50, be placed at fixed deposit for a further term of twelve months." From Mr A. Hope, complaining of tho bad state of the Richmond road. Resolved— "That Mr Hope ha informed that it is the Board's intention to have it done up very shortly." From the Colonial Secretary, stating that the new County of Mackenzie would bo proclaimed from October Ist, and desiring that name?, etc., of persone to act as Returning Officers should bo sent him so as to make arrangements for holding an election. INTBEVIBW. Mr T. Sugrue held an interview with the Board concerning remission of penalties incurred on his rock- blasting contract. Resolved — " That under the ciroumatanoop, Mr Sugrue be fined to tho amount of £15 for delay m completion of his contract." EAIBLIE CHEEK DBAINAGE. Resolved — "That a concreto culvert be built on the Main Road by Mr Close's, to give access to the railway station from tho Allondale road, without crossing and racrotsing tbo railway line, and that the surface drainage of the town*hip be led away," ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £193 13s 6d sere passed for payment, and tho Board then adjourned.
