Challemel Lacour, Minister for Foreign Affairs, has received his congl, and will bo replaced m that position by M. Ferry, President of the Council of Ministers. Tho removal of M. Challemel Lacour is deemed to ba an indication that the French Government desire to pursue a policy of peace. Loxdox, Sept. 17. The cargo of frozen meat on board the steamship Cuzco, from Sydney, has arrived m good condition. The cargo of mutton by the ship Opawa, from the Bluff, also arrived m good condition, but the quality of the meat wa3 inferior to previous shipments. The firat portion of the cargo was sold to-day at 6|d to GJdpor lb. News is to hand that tho ship St. Leonards, bound for New Zealand with immigrants, has foundered m the Channel, aftor & collision with another vessel. All tho passengers and crew of the St. Leonards havo been landed at Dartmouth. O'Donnell, who is charged with the murder of James Carey, the Irish informer, has arrived at Plymouth from tho Cape, and will shortly be placed on his trial. [Received 8.13 p.m., Sept. 18tb.J Tho ill-fated ship St. Leonards, which foundered m tho Channel off Dartmouth, was only one day out, having sailed on tho 15th inst. Tho vessel with which she came into collision was tho Cormorant. It is feared that the latter is severely injured, but nothing is definitely known regarding tho extent of her injuries. Consols are unchanged at 101, and New Zealand securities as follows : — 5 per cunt 10-40 loan, 103, ex dividend ; 5 per cent 1880 loan, lOCi ; 4h per cent 1879-1904 loan, 100]"; 4 per cent inscribed stock, 101. The market rate of discount has fallen to 2* per cent ; Bunk rato, 3i. The grain market continues dull, with a downward tendency. Adelaide wheat, ex storo, remains at 475 ; Now Zealand do has fallen Is Cd per quarter, and is now quoted at 41s to 453 ; Adelaide flmr 335. The tallow market is unchanged. Australian — best beof 40s, best mutton 41s. At the ivool sale to-day 11,700 bales wero offered. The market continues firm.
