THE NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

[BT TBtiaBAFB.] Wbllingtoh, Aug. 8. An influential deputation of the Council of the New Zealand Rifle Association, Trailed on the Eon. Mr Bryce at Parliament Buildings this ereniog with respect to GoTernment aid for the Association for the ensuing year. The deputation was headed by Sir G. S. Whitmore, who entered at length into the ourcess which had attended the Dunedin meeting, and pointed out that by a liberal grant from tho QoTerument, the Association had been enabled to offer tv altractire prize list. Tho prize money at last meeting amounted to nearly £1500, the attendance of competitors being upwardi of 800, of whom 100 went from the North liland. At the Nelson meeting m March 1882, the prize money was only £506, and the attendance samewhero about 110. Sir George pointed out that by miking tho meetings peripatetio the interests erinced by citizens m tho different towns viiitrd by the Association would naturally (end to encourage its usefulness.
