THE STRANDED SCHOONER ARTHUR "WAKEFIELD.
[By Telegraph.] Wanganui, Jan. 7. An unsuccessful attempt was made yesterday morning to get the Arthur Wakefield off. She was lightened, and the anchors placed further out. There being not much, sea on last evening, she was hove to the edge of the channel, and the Clyde towed her inside the heads. The estimated value of her cargo is £2500 or £3000, which is insured m the same office. She has had a severe bumping, bub as yet no material damage has been sustained. [Bt Telbobafh.] POET OF LYTTELTON. ABBIVBD. Jan. I— Annie, from Hobarton. BAILED. Nil. All the vessels reported at anchor, yesterday, got a slant of wind during the night and sailed. It is probable a sailing match may be arranged between the schooners Alert and Torea for £100 a side. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Rangitikei will be a full ship for London this week. She has over 4000 bales of wool aboard now, and is taking m the balance.
