ASSESSMENT COURT.

WAIMATE— Fhidat, Jxnm 22. : (Before B. Woollcombe, Esq., Judge.) An adjourned Assessment Court was held on the above date. Mr White attended as solicitor for the ' Waimate County Cooncil, and Messrs Parry and Hamersley for aeTeral of the objector*. The Chairman and Clerk of the County Council were alio present. Mr Perry addressed the Court on behalf of several objectors whote objections had been adjudged to be informal at the last sitting of the Court, Bnd pleading for leare to amend some of the notice* of objection, the informality of which had been of a trivial character. Mr White stated he liad been instructed, by the County Council not to prest on ' objections the informality of which was' merely technical, and he would leave tha ' matter to the Court. : : Leave wa« allowed to grant a re-hearing to ' objections by giving proper notices to the"' Court. ■ A. Turnbull, as nsent for the Canterbury and Otago Association, applied for an altera- ' lion m the rateable Talue as given m the Tain- - ation Hat for Pareora riding. Several witnesses were examined, and the Talue as given by the assessors was altered from £8300 to £6840. Charles Hendry applied for tlie alteration) of his name on the .zaU roll of the Otaio Riding, the name being returned m the valuatbn list as Wiliam C. Hendry, instead ofCharles. .
