; THE TIMARU CEMETERY. TO THE EDITOB OP TUB TIHA&T7 HEKALD. i Sib, — It is with very painful feelings T wish i to call your attention to the uses to which the i Timaru cemetery is being put. '■ On Sabbath afternoon I happened to walk towards the cemetery, and on rising the brow of the hill leading thereto, I was surprised to see the gates wide open. I knew that no seri vice was being held on the ground. But Sir, i how much more was I surprised, on entering the cemetery to find a mob of horses grazing , on, and trampling over the graves. Let us think for a moment on tho outraged feel mgs of the mourner who beholdß the earth which covers the remains of all that was once dear, scattered to the winds, and trampled under horses hoofs. I know not who is responsible ; but Sir, such a state of things that would not for a moment be tolerated amongst the very heathen, reflects most disgracefully on a community calling Itself Christian. I could say more on the matter, but trusting that some abler pen than mine may take the matter up. < I am etc., A Townsman. Timaru, September 25, 1871. THANKS. TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMABU HBBAXD. Sib, — Allow me, through the medium of your journal, to thank Dr Fisher and the attendants at the Timaru Hospital, for their kindness to me when my arm was injured, at Orari ; and to thank Mr Turnbull and others for their kindness m coming and reading the Scriptures to myself and the other patients of the Timaru Hospital. I remain, &c, Geoegb Andrews. Timaru, September 25, 1871.
