Tho following let£e? has been hauiel to us for. publication, from, the Colonial Treasurer's department, enclosing a draft for £ai,BO(J for the Board of : World :— Wellington, September 1, 18C8. Sir, — I am instructed by the Colonial Treasurer to forward you herewith, a draft ou the Crown Agents, London, 'at 30 days sight, for X' 28,800, being net proceeds of portion of thu l»<tnu o£ the province of Cauturbury, allotted to the Timaru and Gladstone Board of Works, by the 21st section of the Act of last session. . The loan of which this forms part was raised at the rate of £t>7 for each £100. The discount on £30,000 thus amounted to £900, .iiud there 13 a further deduction of Cost of raising the lnau, which at 1 per ceut amounts to £300. - These aums added to the amount of the draft make up thu £30,000 mentioned m the sectiou above referred to.
