London, January 19. _ Balme and Gu.j Buxton and Co., JacombSon and ( 0., offered catalogues at the wool sales aggregating 7279 bales, The selection was poor, chiefly medium and inferior sorts. TberO-was a large attendance of buyers and competition was animated. t'rices ft. r crossbreds were unchanged, the advance of from four to live per cent being chiefly in strong merino. Melbourne. January 19. At the wool sales there was spirited competition and a markedimprovement in prices, which were from a farthing to a half-penny above last week and from 5 to 7| per cent above the December closing rates.
