THE DUST EVIL.
In connection with the dust ovi], about which much hasbeeii h card (and felt) tho last few days, a discussion arose at tho Council meeting last evening, initiated by a petition signed by nearly, all the business people of Pollen street, who asked that something should bo done by tho Council towards abating tho nuisance, Tho position, which was explained by the Town Cleric, is that the Council has resolved to find tho water for street purposes, but the business people must apply the labor for its utilisation, From remarks made by Councillors we understand that while gome of the storekeepers are willing to put their hands in their pockets others are not, saying, "We do not raise tho dust and we do not seo we should directly pay to lay it," and thus tho dolay in bringing tho arrangement to a head. Practically all the City Fathers agree that the resolution now standing in the books is reasonable., but a proposition to make further concessions to allow Pollen street to bo watered would at any time be opposed by the Mayor, Councillors Burch and Comer at any rate. However, tho matter now stands as it did before,
