[From Our Own Correspondent.] * Mr James Campbell, who has been ill lor some time, .died last night, ; He was A brother of Mr pan Campbell. The Waihi Company are working their fall [complement 'of stamps, and we expeofc a good return this month. The low level tunnel from'the.Waihi shaft is being pnshed ahead by the contractor, Mr J. Wilson, About 120 feet will have to be driven in thjs level to oat the;reef. The Silvefton Company have got their shaft cleared out; and are now driving their lew level from it. ; The' poppet legs are in position, and the machinery'well forward they will not be very long now ~3n making a show. Mr Price I see is the , lf Jt successful tenderer for the battery. - •'' - The Waihi Extended are putting in a prospecting drive in their ground.' Waibi South have not got their pump- -• in g gear yet, but Mr Cornes has gone to Auckland to'see about it.; ■, Mr Walker has got,his drive started in the Waitete .-section of the Grand Junction mine, and shoold not have far to drive to cut the reef. ": ' Waitekauri'is booming; along. N0,4 have got. men on to. open but on their reefs. The Edwin Norman syndicate .are going to pub men on to prospecttheir ' reefs. These ore apptrently the samo reefs as Woitekauri.No 4, and have been opened out in both the Torpedo and L Edwin Norman ground.
