JAPANESE VICTORIOUS.
(By Cable—Press Association) Shanghai, October 29. In the fight at Kulien Chan the Japanese lost 100 killed and wounded.
200 Chinese were killed, but the number of wounded is unknown.
The fight lasted for four hours. Latek.
The engagement reported at Kulien Chan occurred on Thursday last at Fuschan, in the vicinity of Kulien Chan, which had been evacuated by the Chinese.
Notwithstanding that the Chinese hold a strong position, they fled at the approach of the Japanese scouts. The Japaneso warships and'thirtyfour torpedo boats threaten Weihaiwei.
The Chinese fleet has been ordered to protect Shan Kailwan.
Twenty thousand Chinese are entrenched at Hong Laon.
Troops are massing at Kinchan for the defence of Port Arthur, which the Japanese vessels have effectually blockadod.
Further reinforcements of Japanese havo lauded at the east of Port Arthur unopposed, and are already engaged in erecting piers for landing purposes.
The Japanese have captured fifteen timber laden junks.
