'The kauri gum and ballast still remain to be got out. there being about 30 tone-of gum in the ship's cargo, and tho vessol will then be docked and surveyed.. There is reason to believe from a casual examination .of the vessels hold that there were two-seperate fires below, which necessitated tW-souttliog of the ship. From the appearance of the flax and the interior of the ship, it would appear that one fire—the ooro serious of the two-originated forward, just abaft of the foremast, and-the other about three beams forward of the main hatch, with three tiers of flas bales between, the two. flia ship on the port side, right forward, has her skin nearly burnt through by the fire; a foot of the foremaet ia charred, a number of beams aro burnt right, ihrougb, and some of the deck carlines a'e burnt, besides the damage done by (he fire in the 'tween-decka.
