ELOODS AND GALES IN AUSTRALIA.

Melbourne, yesterday, Therb has been heavy rains and floods in all parts of the colony, and jjreat damoge has been done. The residents of Avoca had te leave, and a large quantity of Btock were drownod at Ohiltren. The Murray overflowed, and the Wodonga was flooded submerging a largo tract of country. The inhabitants of Bowenvale wero rescued in boats. A buggy was washed away at Elinore. Misses Powell and Zalpin were drowned at Guilford, Barringhup, in Castlomaine district, is under water, These aio the heaviest floods Rince 1870.
Hobart, yesterday. A gale is raging, and vessels in the harbor are in great jeopardy. Tho Natal Queen broke from her moorings, but was recoverod undamaged, Tho b.s. Rotomahana had to leave and face tho gale. Heavy floods have occurred in the lowor part of Hobart, and the place is threatened with inundation,
