PRIZE FIRING.
The Haval Brigade fired as usual on Saturday, morning and afternoon, in Ist and 2nd class squads, for a series of prizes, and also finished (ho aggregato for Mr Marshall's prize, which fell to the lot of P.O. Thonaas, with the splendid score of 52, making tho possible at 500 yards. The first prize in the Ist class was secured by Seaman Armstrong, with a score of 51, he, too, making the possible at 400 yards, f,, eaman Faiarson coming second, and Sub-Lieuteaufc Gordon third, each with magnificent scores of 50. .The. first prize in tho 2nd class was carried off by Seaman Penk with the score of 46, Seaman Webster taking second prize, closely following with a score of 45. The ranges fired at were-200,400, and 500 yards, fivo shots at each range. '! ho day was not tho host for shooting, especially in the morning, tho dcfcciivo liylit making it unfavourable. We had tho pleasure of inspecting a silver coff'eo percolator, kindly presented to tliem by J. G-. Little', Esq., of theThistlo Hotel, Auckland, who, we are informed, is a life honorary member of our Naval Brigade, and who seems proud of the honour by tho handsome present he hast sent tliem for competition, which is at present' on view at Mr Lawless' shop.
