THAMES HIGH SCHOOL.

The first meeting of the newly-appointed Board of Governors of the Thames High School was held at the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Present: Dr Kilgour, Messrs "W. McCullough, A. Brodie, J. Brown, L. J. Bagnall, W. Davies, and W. Wilkinson. Mr MoCullough was elected chairman, and it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bbodib, seconded by Dr Kilgoub, "That this Board take the necessary steps to establish a public high school, in accordance with the 4th section of the Thames High School Act."

On the metion of Mr Davies, seconded by Mr Wilkinson, it was resolved that a petition be forwarded to the Governor, praying that the Government set apart a block of land in the Aroha district, in 6ccordanoe with seo. 6 of the Act, without delay. j ... , It was also resolved,, on the motion of Mr Bbodib, seconded by Mr Bbown, that Dr Kilgour, Messrs Wilkinson, Davies, and Bagnall be a committee to draft by-laws for the Board; and that Dr Kilgour, the Chairman, and Messrs Brodie and Wilkinson obtain information as to the number of pupils likely to attend the school, fees to be oharged, probable teaching staff required, and suoh other information as may be useful to the Board.

On the motion of Mr Davies, seconded by Mr Bagnall, it was resolved that Dr .Kilgour and the mover be appointed to ascertain whether the money collected for i Ladies' High School oould be trans, ferred to this Board.

The meeting then adjourned for a fortnight, after empowering the Chairman to telegragh the seoond resolution to the hon. the Premier.
