Herbert Hampton, soil-: of the wellknown tailor, in Shortland-street, was charged this assaulting Mr Bobert'Graham, at Ellerslie Gardens, at the sports on the, 9th November. Hampton also charged Mr Graham with assaulting him' with a whip, but the counter-charge broke .down. Hampton was fined £5 and costs, in all about £22. The Auckland Society of Artists' Exhibition began to-day at the Choral Hall. - There: were about 350; exhibits. , The Education Board met to-day, and decided to ask the General Government for £10,000 towards school buildings. .: Cleared for London, the ship' Flcchero,' loaded by the Hew Zealand Shipping Company. She sails to-mor-row. ' Mr J. M. Clark's; requisition has received an accession of names. - • W. •
