Wellington, Wednesday, 6 p.m. The report of tho Waste Lauds Committee was presented to the House to-day, referring to tho Thames petition of Dr Kilgour, chairman of n public meeting, and the Mayor of the Thames, praying for tracts of land for settlement by miners at tho Thames goldfields. It says: — " Your comroitteo have the honour to recommend that tho petition be referred to the Government, with the view, if possible, of giving effect to the prayer of the petitioners," Mr 0. O'Neill to-day gavo notice that on tho next sitting day he will move— 1 ' That tho Government be requested to take into their, favourable consideration the report of tho Waste Lands Committeo in reference to land for settlement for tho inhabitants of the Thames district.
