Wellington, Tuesday. A meeting of tho electors of the Wellington country districts wns held last night, when Mr Brandon, M.fl.E., and Mr Qillon, editor of tho Evening Post, wero present. Both spoke strongly in favour_ of postponing tho question of Abolition until after an appeal to the country,. A resolution to that effect was . carried.
[ Chhisioeuhoh, Tuesday. At a public meeting at Eyreton last night, the Boy A. O'Clallaghan proposed b resolution in favour of immediato Abolition, but an Amendment was moved by Mr Knight, Minister of Education, to the effect that tho question of Abolition should be referred to the decision of the electors at the next general election, was carried.
AtameetingatCourtnay last night, a motion that tho question of Abolition be roferred to the next election, was negatived, and an amendment in favour of immediate Abolition was oarried.
