_ Auckland,^Tuesday, Eoderick McKay, of Low and Motion's, died suddenly of congestion of the lungs to-day.

When Elliott's donkey engine was engaged in unloading the' Flechero,' instead of hauling up a case, it was hbuled up jomo distance, owing to the case catching in the combings of the hatchway. The engine nearly fell over, causing great alarm.

Arrived: 'Glimpse' from Newcastle, 'Mary Melville' from Lyttelton. Campbell, a milkman; was fined £5 and costs for soiling adulterated milk, Water was proved to do mixed to the extent of 40 per cent. Mr Thome, for the defence, afgued that no breaehof theict had been committed becauso the defendant had stamped on his pails "milk and water." The Bench did not seo this view. The 'Freetrader' cleared for ilobarfc Town to-day.

_ Cobomandbl, Tuesday. The Abolition meeting was woll attended. Dr Hovell was chairman. Mr Dockrill moved four resolutions, tho first approving of Abolition of tho provinces; second, objecting to the scheme of endowing road districts, as opposed to all sound principles; third, objecting to treat tho land fund as other than colonial fund, as infringement of the rights of the people; fourth, that large constitutional changes should not be effected without an appeal to the electors. On tho motion of Mr Woollams, seconded by Mr Home, an Amendment was proposed omitting the Becond and third resolutions as dealing with matters not before-tho meeting. The first and fourth were then amalgamated, and carried unanimously. Tho Chairman was requested to telegraph tho result to Mr O'Neill, and communicato it to the Govornmont.
