The coal outlook is hopeful, in consequence of a reported decision that the Government is not proceeding with tho emergency Defence of the Realm Act, which is certain to provoke considerable labour opposition owing to its highly controversial provisions, under which the country could be placed under martial law at any time.—Aus.N.Z.
