Mr. Shader Weston, Wellington, is on a short visit to Now Plymouth.

- The Rev. 0. Blundell left for Auckland this morning in order to attend the celebration of the golden anniversary of tho wedding of his parents. Mounted Constable J. CaUlton, of Wellington, has been transferred to New Plymouth to fill tho vacancy caused by the death of Constable J. Wroblenski. The officer arrived on Saturday night. Mr. W. Brendon Parsons, who has been appointed to succeed Mr. kV Guttefidge as manager of tho Colonial Sugar Refining Company’s works at Auckland, will take up his duties at the beginning of November. Mr. Parsons is a brother of-Mrs. J. Paton, of New Plymouth. Mr. B. M’Keown, of the Eltha-m railway goods staff, who has been transferred to Auckland, was met on Friday last by his fellow employees at the station, and also the local carriers, and presented with a silver cigarette case and a gold-mounted fountain pen, as a mark of tho esteem in which ho was held in the district.

A Press Association telegram from Te Kuiti states that Mr. Thomas W. Fisher, late Under-Secretary for Native Affairs, died suddenly on Sunday. He arrived at Te Kuiti on Friday on a visit to Mr. W. Gatsby. He seemed to be in his usual health on Sunday, but while having tea suffered an attack. His breathing became difficuTt, and a doctor was summoned, but Mr. Fisher expired shortly' after the doctor’s arrival. The late Mr. Fisher formerly resided in New Plymouth.
